Introduction

Hello guys! This is my first hike this 2019. And I am going to share with you all my experience hiking at Mt. Batolusong. So first off we decided to join existing day hike event on Climber FB page. However, there was no available (sadly). There were only Mt. Mapalad and Maynuba-Cayabu events. Since we already went there last November, we finally agreed to create our DIY itinerary for Mt. Batolusong.

How to get there?

From Cubao Aurora Blvd., take a jeepney bound for Cogeo Gate 2. It usually takes 1.5-2hrs of travel time and costs around Php 25 as of this writing. Once you arrive at Cogeo Gate 2, take another jeep to Brgy. Sampaloc. (Note that there are tricycle drivers who would ask you to take to Brgy. San Andres. They typically charge around Php 150-200). From there, you can ride a habal-habal/tricycle for P40 one way to get to the Brgy. San Andres for the registration and local guides.

Sample DIY Itinerary

04:00 AM – Depart from Cubao, Quezon City
05:00 AM – ETA Cogeo Gate 2. Take jeepney to Brgy. Sampaloc.
06:00 AM – Drop off point, Take tricyle to Bgry. San Andres.
06:30 AM – ETA Brgy. San Andres. Registration and acquiring of local guide.
06:30 AM – Begin trek.
07:00 AM – ETA Duhatan Ridge.
07:30 AM – ETA Mapatag Plateau.
08:00 AM – ETA Rangyas Peak.
08:30 AM – Start descent.
10:00 AM – ETA Brgy. San Andres. Lunch. Tidy up.
11:30 AM – Depart from Brgy. San Andres. We asked the tricycle driver to drop us off at Palo Alto (Jeepney terminal going to Cogeo)
13:30 AM – ETA Manila.

Estimated expenses

Cubao to Cogeo – P25
Cogeo to Sampaloc – P40
Habal-habal to San Andres – P40
Registration fee – P100/person
Guide fee – P500 (group of 5)
Habal-habal to Palo Alto – P75
Palo Alto to Cogeo – P35
Cogeo to Cubao – P25

Take note that on the last peak before you could reach it there’s a rappelling you need to do. It’s not that difficult as you can watch on my video below 😀
